A Foreign Affair (AFA) is a dating service that introduces men to single Russian, Latin, Asian, or Eastern European (Ukrainian) women for dating or marriage.
If you just glance at the company website, you might think it's a scam operation. I say this for two reasons: for one, the website is just plain ugly. And two, you see pictures of beautiful women everywhere when you open up the website.
But, I have seen what I would consider to be evidence that A Foreign Affair offers a very legitimate service.
Here is a two minute video of an American named David getting married to Maria, a Colombian woman he met through AFA.
Sure, you can meet women online through the company website, but A Foreign Affair is best known for organizing Romance Tours (also known as singles tours).
Depending on which tour you choose, you will travel to meet dozens of single Latin, Asian, Russian, or European women. Each tour will have women of all ages who are looking for a relationship, and many of them want to marry.
During the tour, you will have the chance to speak to each woman to give them a short "interview" to find out who you match well with. Translators attend each tour event to overcome language barriers.
More About The Services
A Foreign Affair is sometimes referred to as a mail order brides company, but it is not. It's an introduction service that connects single men and women online and through group or individual Romance Tours.
Singles tour destinations include Russia, Ukraine, Colombia, Peru, Costa Rica, Thailand, Philippines, and China.
The owners (John Adams & Ron Redburn), the Chief Technical Officer (Ken Agee) and Sales Manager (Bud Patterson) have all found foreign brides by using the service themselves.
Members get a chance to meet single Russian women, Asian women, or Latin women for dating or potentially for marriage.
There are basically three steps:
Step 1) Sign Up
Registration is free, fast and easy.
Even though it’s free, you’ll get much more out of the services by upgrading to a Platinum Membership (more on this shortly).
Step 2) Contact Women
A Foreign Affair’s website LoveMe.Com provides various ways to help you get to know the women you’re interested in.
You can send emails, write letters, write translated letters and even talk to them on the phone.
From the site: “We help you avoid language barriers by providing letter translation services online and even provide gift services for you to show her how much you care.”
Here are ways for you to contact women:
Email: With a platinum membership, you can access up to 100 women's email addresses every month.
Write Me Now: This service allows you to contact women who don’t have an email address or have so-so English skills.
Add Her Email Address: As I mentioned, a Platinum membership lets you request 100 email addresses monthly.
Even if you aren't a platinum member, you can still email any woman you like (current price is $12).
Call Her: Click on the “Call Me Now” button at a woman’s profile to schedule a phone call.
Step 3) Meet Women
You can go on a well organized vacation tour and meet beautiful women in person.
From the site: “We have multiple tours to the Ukraine, Latin America, and Asian locations year round so don’t wait! It’s cheaper than any travel agent, plus you could quite possibly meet the love of your life.”
Tours allow you to have unlimited personal introductions to women. You can also take advantage of two socials with 7 day tours and three socials with 10 day tours where you can meet lots of women in a single night.
So again, is A Foreign Affair a scam? Does it work?
If you watched the videos, you should be convinced that the service is legitimate. Here's more food for thought...
1. The website has a media center with video highlights of past Romance Tours.
There’s also a set of video testimonials. I didn’t get the impression that these guys were actors.
2. The agency has received more media coverage than competing agencies.
If you watched the video you've seen the service featured on the Today Show. It's also been mentioned or featured on 60 minutes, Inside Edition, The Maury Povich Show, The X-Show, and news shows on major networks such as ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, A&E, and the BBC.
3. The company offers to supply you with references of as many past tour clients as you would like.
